Main activities of Africa Heritage Committee are as follows: ◆Plan and organize events with theme of African and Caribbean originated cultures. ◆Visit welfare institutions and provide international experiences for Japanese children without appropriate living conditions. ◆”School Project” for African children.

Purpose of the Activities

  1. Provide an opportunity for international exchange
  2. Conserve environment
  3. Introduce culture of many countries in the world
  4. Foster children through international exchanges, cultural exchanges, and sport
  5. Encourage a local community to become more international

Volunteer staffs are welcome! Those who want to help people in your community, those who want to help foreign people living in Japan, those who want to help Japanese and African children, those who want to help unprivileged children in Africa and Caribbean countries, and those who felt sympathy for the activities and purpose of Africa Heritage Committee, come and join us! »Volunteer Application Form

Activities of the festival volunteers are not limited to site management, handing out flyers, site cleaning. Take advantage of your skills. Artists, performers, dressers, carpenters, any other fields are welcome. (If you have an idea utilizing your skill, please contact us 1-2 months prior to the festival.) »Details of Activities

In addition, a full-day volunteer will get 2 meal tickets worth \1400 which can be used at the festival. A half-day volunteer can get 1 meal ticket worth \700. Volunteers who can work on the preceding day or the subsequent day of the festival can have a real African lunch. »Privilege to Volunteers

Furthermore, those who attend the “Information Meeting for Volunteers” can experience wrapping an African cloth around your head, play African games, and learn African culture, all free of charge! Through this experience, you can introduce what you learned about the African culture to visitors at the festival. Come into contact with a different culture and open up your mind. *We also accept applications for an office staff. Those who want to contribute to the next generation, African children and Japanese children are very welcome.

Basic Activity Time

*During the festival and on the preceding day or the subsequent day of the festival

Half-day (AM)9:00-14:00 (30 min break, 4.5 hours)
Half-day (PM) 14:00-19:00 (30 min break, 4.5 hours)
Full-day9:00-19:00 (1.5 hours lunch break and 30 min break, 8 hours)

*Besides above, we start preparation (handing out flyers, posting flyers, preparing decorations) 2 months prior to the festival. Those who want to take advantage of your skill need to hold a meeting and prepare 1-2 months prior to the festival.


Details of Activities

Basic activities: site management (set up and break up tents and a stage, set tables and chairs, clean up), handing out flyers, information desk, parking guide, site security, fund-rising for “School Project”.
*other activities include charity goods sales, workshop assistance, stamp rally reception.
Those with the following skills are welcome: MC, DJ, model, hair-makeup artist, nail artist, dresser, carpenter (for site set up), truck driver, electricity system engineer, sound system engineer, chef (Western, Japanese, African, Ethnic), IT engineer, Japanese drum performer, lion dance performer, drama performer, picture-story show artist, artist, translator (English or French), photographer.


Information Meeting for Volunteers

Volunteers are required to attend the briefing session at least once before the festival.
Meetings and OJT are held, so please attend as much as possible.

・After the meeting, preparation, OJT, handing out flyers and other activities are scheduled.

*Meeting itself will take 1.5 to 2 hours. It might take longer according to the time required for Q&A session.
